This study aims a webometrics analyze of federal institutions of higher education the South region of Brazil, to discover out what those stand out for their web presence, identifying those that offer greater amount of academic and scientific informationand those that stand by their internal connections and sternum in the virtual world to do so, we used the yahoo search engine, the program mapper and Xenu Link Sleuth, Ucinet6, beyond following indicators webometrics: size of the site, visibility, web impact factor, luminosity and density network, the results indicate that the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, the Federal University of Santa Catarina and Federal University of Paraná, are the institutions that stand out on the web, concludes that through this study that the universities which tend to highlight the web are the same as that already are recognized for their academic excellence in the real world.
