Information Technologies can present new possibilities for cancer research, offering tools that integrate data from different sources. This article´s objective is to describe and analyze the system developed for the management of National Bank of Tumors (SISBNT), emphasizing its role for technology innovation management of the Instituto Nacional do Câncer (INCA) from Brazil. It is a qualitative study, with a descriptive and a exploratory natures, based on case study and participative observation methods. The results demonstrate that the SISBNT implementation is contributing to improve the quality of cancer treatment and also to support the organization´s effort to integrate basic, translational e clinical research.
