Resumo

The Green IT refers to the set of policies and practices to ensure that the activity of a company to produce the least environmental impact. These initiatives have been adopted as a strategic policy by some companies. The present study examined the perception of IT professionals on Green IT practices of a financial institution. For it was built and validated a questionnaire based on the most widespread practices for green IT contained in the literature. The results showed that, in general, the practices implemented by the institution are not yet perceived as a company's adherence to Green IT. We conclude that, in the perception of IT professionals, the institution failed to associate the practice green IT to a corporate image that takes into account the environment. These data are evidence that Green IT practices cannot simply be a decision from the top down, without the effective participation of employees. It is recommended to reconsider the Green IT practices, linking them to a strategic policy deployment culture of sustainability in its employees, and internal marketing practices
