Resumo


The Institutional development plan - PDI is an instrument that provides relevant information about higher education institutions. This information reveals the identity of universities and express goals and actions aimed at the quality of education. This instrument also serves as control of financial resources, planning for new investment, new technologies, aimed at its development. The Ministry of education of Brazil-MEC, through law No. 10,861\/04, provided a base template for preparation of PDI, serving as a prerequisite to the process of accreditation, recognition and authorization of superior courses. That said, the main objective of this survey was to identify whether the PDI's Brazilian Federal universities ´ include the requirements and dimensions set by the MEC. The methodological procedures characterize the study as descriptive, quantitative and documentary. Based on the law and on the requirements laid down by the MEC, a check list has been drawn up to facilitate the collection and analysis of data. The data collection was accomplished through documents contained in electronic sites of the institutions of the sample. The sample was in 24 universities. The results indicate that none of the surveyed universities evidences in their PDI ´ s, 100% of the requirements and dimensions set by the MEC. It was also noted that only 5 universities are showing above 70% of items, between 10% and 70% of 50 items and 9 below 50% of the items. In another analysis concluded that the Federal universities located in the southern region of Brazil are the most include the requirements and dimensions set by the MEC, regarding the Institutional development plan.
