Resumo
The study aims to identify, through webometrics, sites that stand out as indicators of connectivity, density and impact of higher education institutions in southern Brazil. The survey classified as descriptive, documentary and quantitative, involving webometrics. The sample comprises 32 universities that received top scores in ENADE/2006 in undergraduate courses in Accounting from Southern Brazil. The results demonstrate the UEL with the largest site, and has 82.500 pages, UNISINOS stood out as a university with 19.900 demonstrating greater visibility on the web links and FURG with a web impact factor equal to 1.458. Links between sites, stood out as the University UNOESTE that most members of the reference sample, and UFRGS as the most referenced by other universities. The interlinks between universities in the sample showed a network with density equal to 42%. We conclude that the webometrics is an important tool for measuring the breadth of universities to promote their activities
