Resumo
This article studies, using the technique of bibliometric analysis, the participation of Embrapa Agrobiology research center in periodicals indexed in the Web of Science (WOS) database, from 1977 to 2006 under the optics of their impact, of their citations. It will analyze, in first place, the research center performance per year and per five years. After the citations are analyzed per periodicals by languages, partnerships or co-authorships and by areas of the knowledge researched. The results indicate an average of 13,2 citations per article published and a Hirsch index of 30 throughout thirty years, which means that 30 articles had gotten 30 or more citations in the period. From the analysis of citations and its evolution attention is called to the fact that articles published in Portuguese in Brazilian journals may be discouraged by the adoption of criteria that force articles publication in international journals only to extend the impact of these articles
