This article shows how to develop applications to organize and facilitate data collection, management and exploration aiming at the operationalization of the Environmental Scanning (IEA) concepts to support the strategic decision making process in a software selling company in the medical domain. Environmental Scanning consists in collecting and using valid information relative to the companys socio-economic environment to create business opportunities and avoid unpleasant strategic surprises. Its objetive is to allow quick response at the opportune moment and at the lowest cost. Applications were developped to systematize the treatment of data, both internal and external, of a company in the medical software area. A bigger involvement of the employees is still needed to make the use of these applications evolve and prove their added value.
