Resumo

In a globalized world, it is essential for teaching teams to be aware of all the resources of educational informatics to better perform their role. Measures aiming at spreading the benefits of new technologies to the people at large must be included in the policies to reduce the so-called social exclusion that affects a considerable part of the population. In turn, this forces society to redefine the role of schools, as well of teachers and professors, who must henceforth prepare and shape the new citizens so as they will not passively accept asocial configuration where there is a clear-cut division among those who think and those who execute, among those who produce and those who simply enjoy and consume. In other words, it is essential for teaching institutions as a whole to work on the creation and development of students who are able to handle technology ina creative and critical way. In its role of facilitating the binomial teaching-learning, schools must be capable of employing technology itself along the principles of Educational Technology. This paper aims at looking at the difficulties of professionally training teachers and professors and of empowering institutions so they can implement theories on technology in their respective educational environment.
