Resumo
The Enterprise Architecture, in general, has four domains or four perspectives: Business Architecture, Information Architecture, Application Architecture and Infrastructure Architecture. Business perspective has been less valued which seems to be why the implementation of the Enterprise Architecture in many companies has failed. The Business Architecture supports the collection and analysis of essential information to Enterprise Architecture. This perspective describes the organization current state, its products and services and how it will operate in the future. The Business Architecture contains documents, models, methods and measures that need to be familiar to Information Technology Professionals and Business Executives. The proposal of this article is to present a technique to develop a Business Architecture where its elements are structured in a Balanced Scorecard or BSC. The use of this technique is illustrated in an IT department of a multinational insurance company case study. The developed technique offers a model to structure and analyse the elements of a Business Architecture. This analysis supports the elaboration of a strategic plan that aligns future projects to the organization needs and objectives.
