Knowledge Management Applied to Software Requirements Engineering: A Case Study in a Telecom Operator

Resumo
The increasing pace of change has been justified by competitive enviroments that makes that the telecom organizations develop knowledge management initiatives to support the development of software projects intended for creation and realization of innovations in its processes, products and services. The association of efforts derived from knowledge management to the processos of software is a topic explored in the academic literature with certain frequency, as well as related to the subject of knowlege management within the area of telecommunications. In this sense, the objective of this research is to identify the characteristics from knowledge management that are relevant to the processes of software requirements engineering of software projects develope in telecom companies operating in Brazil. To achieve this goal, this descripetive-qualitative research used a case study with the application of semi-structured questionnaire to six professionals that have direct influence on software projects of a major telecom operator in the country. The main results indicate the possibility of apply some characteristics of knowledge management on the steps of the requirements engineering processo of the software projects developed by the telecom operator analyzed. Therefore, the mai contribution of the research is the mappint of the main features of the software requirements engineering applied in the software projects development, segregated according to each dimension of knowledge spiral of the SECI model proposed by Nonaka & Takeuchi.
