Investments in Information Technology and the Access of Brazilian Population to Banking Services and Facilities

Resumo


The Brazilian banking industry continues investing in Information Technology (IT) big quantities in the period from 2009 to 2014 and these investments allowed new kind of financial transaction channels making easier the access and bringing new services allowing new people of lower classes to be included and access these services and facilities. Through this observation, the objective of this paper is to analyze this continuous evolution of banking industry in this period and at same time to analyze the numbers and the possible relation with the financial inclusion in Brazil. Using documentation research and with the support of literature revision, there are presented the main indicators involving the investments and new kind of access indicating the continuous financial incusing in Brazil and great opportunity of expansion. As a conclusion, it was verified that IT always is related with the strategies of Brazilian banking industry and the new channels developed allowed more and more people included in this process, and therefore there is a financial inclusion related with the done investments. The banks are in the right way about the strategy stablished and the numbers show that there is a big opportunity of expansion related with financial inclusion.
