Resumo
The Organizational Memory and Information Systems, objects in this article are topics widely studied. However, studies relating the two themes offer ample opportunities (Perez & Ramos, 2013). In this theoretical essay, we sought to identify and discuss the difficulties of implementing information systems to support the functions of Organizational Memory. It was identified that the difficulties are related mainly to the volatility and obsolescence of organizational knowledge. To support the functions of Organizational Memory is necessary to identify what are the characteristics and limitations that systems present, in order to: prevent the evasion of specialized knowledge; promote the incorporation of new knowledge; leverage innovation without it being hostage to past experiences; support operational efficiency, promoting continuous improvement based on the accumulated prior knowledge; and, avoid the volatility and obsolescence of organizational knowledge, that occur in the frequency with which knowledge changes.
