New Technologies for Industrial Automation Projects : The Use of VMWare in support of an Environment SCADA

Resumo
The innovations afforded by Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), including the Internet, have led to a series of changes in business models and in how organizational processes are performed. New paradigms succeed, leading to discontinuity of solutions that had recently been consolidated and generating new opportunities for optimization processes. This article will analyze the technological convergence phenomenon, generated by the rapid progress of ICT, it causes in various areas of knowledge input technologies that were once only the service of the Information Systems. The case will be considered the "Company X", organization of the fuel sales sector and derivatives, and has extensive industrial park, it is marketed and distributed products for all Brazil. Built in the 1970s, the company uses supervisory systems since the 1990s and has been undergoing a revitalization of its automation solutions, benefiting from new technologies coming of ICT. With the increased robustness of automation systems, the company is getting integrate shop floor processes to enterprise systems, creating opportunities for business improvement with the inclusion of a layer in the architecture of Information Systems.
