Resumo
As Internet usage faces a continuous growth, additionally motivated by the use of mobile devices and applications, such as tablets and smartphone apps, it is a demand to develop a new version of the IP protocol, which is responsible for the addressing system for each machine on a network, like Internet.
It will be necessary that firms, and even personal users, adapt themselves for the utilization of this new protocol. This update can include the exchange of some devices even training for technical personnel who will work on configuring and adapting hardware and software.
This research aims to evaluate the knowledge, impact and what had been done until the moment of its execution, for adoption of IPv6 in business organizations. As the methodological approach, an exploratory analysis with bibliographical review was conducted for theoretical base and then a multiple case study was held to understand the real situation faced by firms at this moment regarding the change for this new protocol version.
