Resumo

In this paper, we attempted to analyze empirically how the multi-criteria approach can contribute to the prioritization of projects in a Higher Education Institution in Brazil, within a Professional Master's Program. A single case study was the research method developed, started from a theoretical and conceptual framework that integrated the approach of multi-criteria and the evaluation system of CAPES (Higher Education Co-ordination Agency), which formed the basis for the development and implementation of a structured questionnaire. Having done this, it was applied the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and identified that Former Students Control and Technology and Technical Production Protocol were considered priority projects, beyond the Teaching Staff criteria, all with the aim of contributing for the performance improvement in the evaluation system of CAPES. Thus, it was justified the use of AHP for support the decision-maker in improving the judgments as well as a better understanding of the problem.
