Resumo
Owing to transactional evolution among entities, practically related to globalization, internal auditing assumes a relevant role in the organizational context while advising and supporting the management. In this said scenario there is a provocative inquiry about the activities of internal auditing be it in a technical perspective or its contribution to the managerial duties. Towing the aforementioned, the current study aims to provide answers to the following: what is the perception of the managers about the role of internal auditors in the managerial practice and decision taking in the business entity and society at large? The study was restricted to non financial institutions of the State of São Paulo with shares traded in the Bovespa Stock Market. We adopted the descriptive methodology, since primary data was obtained through structured questionnaire. The codified, tabulated and analyzed data permits us to conclude that internal auditing, based on the perception of Managers is a management enhancing tool, supporting the organizations to meet up their objectives that implies in contributive information, with evaluation of strategic risk and strengthening of internal control systems for decision making. Overall, it is also known that there is a need for further studies which inclusive require a greater number of companies to be sampled.
