It was accomplished a case study, with a survey, of two organization in the public transportation sector of São Paulo State. Both of them offer mobile information technology (MIT): SMS messages sending to denounce irregularities. Thus, we question how does occur the use of MIT in public sector, by users’ point of view. Besides that, we inquire which factors may influence the utilization. After analyzing if the service is recognized and the factors that more influenced the MIT acceptance (or non-acceptance), we verified that in spite of users’ recognition, the factors related to effort expectance affected more the service non-utilization.
